Everyone that believes in a somewhere after death wants to go to heaven. Everyone seems to believe they are going there. At least the good people!
The most sovereign God created all things. (Gen. 1-2). He created man and woman in His image. (Gen. 2). He gave his created beings everything. He put them in a garden and told them to enjoy and to go and multiply.
In this garden and for them to have free will God said there is one thing they should not do. They were not to eat off the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If they did, they would surely die.
There is only "one way" to get to Heaven
Eve is tempted by the serpent (Satan) in the garden. The temptation was, go and eat of the fruit. Eve was told she would be like God if she ate of the fruit. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the fruit, it brought evil into the world and broke all of humanity in what we now know as sin. God's creation was perfect until man disobeyed Him. (Gen. 3)
Everything was good until Adam and Eve ate of the fruit. Since that day, sin entered the world and has been imputed to all humanity. Humanity now deals with right and wrong and fights the desire to be who God wants them to be. Why? Our sin separates us from a Holy God. Because God is Holy and good, he cannot be in the presence of sin. So we are separated from God and choose to go our own way trying to be our own God. (Pride)
Our sin brings evil into God's creation. We, left to ourselves, are all evil. Meaning, we miss the mark of God's standards. There is no amount of good we can do to earn God's favor. The bad news is our sin leads to death. God said if you eat of the fruit, you will surely die. Our sin leads to the judgement by God, and we receive His wrath. (John 3:36) Our separation from God, because of our sin, leads to hell. Yet God and his great love for us made a way to forgive our sin and allow us to escape hell, a place where we are separated from God for all eternity. (John 3:16)
God chose a man (Abraham) and through his offspring he would make a great nation. Through his offspring, God would become a man (Jesus). Jesus would grow up and teach a moral way and be a living sacrifice to forgive humanity of their sin. Jesus (God in human flesh) would sacrifice his life by dying on a cross. This act of obedience would bring all of our sin on himself. He would be a blood sacrifice, a payment for all humanities sin. (1 Peter 2:24)
This sacrificial payment would be once for all and would be a way for all humanity to become a new creation in Christ. Christ finished work would be complete by him dying, being buried, and rising from the grave. He would then ascend to Heaven to prepare a place for us. (Heaven) (John 14:1-4)
So what do we do?
To learn of God's way, we must follow His way. We follow His way by following His WORD. (The Bible)

We are only saved by the grace (unmerited favor) and mercy of Jesus Christ. Jesus made a way for us to be back in the favor of God. It is by His grace we are healed from the penalty of our sin. Your belief in Jesus and God's divine order makes you new!
Our belief in Jesus and His sacrifice prompts us to follow him. (Christians are followers of Christ) To do that, you must deny your prideful self and follow the ways of God.
Trust in God's redemptive plan, follow His WORD, trust in His promises, believe in faith, live out a new life in Christ!
